Winter 2012 Demo and Trial Class

Tae kwon do starts early this semester with the demo and trial class on Jan. 10 (this coming Tuesday) in the Red PAC Activity Area. Doors open at 7:30pm and the demo will begin at 8:00pm. Following the demo we will have a trial class. No uniform is necessary, but come dressed in comfortable clothes you can move in for the trial class. There is no obligation to join after the trial class so even if you are only mildly curious you should come check us out! ;)

The first day of regular class will be Thursday, Jan. 12. The beginner class for those with no or very little tae kwon do experience starts at 7:30pm and the advanced class for yellow belts and up begins at 8:30pm. For those interested in the competition aspect of tae kwon do, there is a training class at 9:30pm following the advanced class.

We look forward to seeing new and old faces!

It's a New Fall Term!

Hey guys, the first day of classes has come and gone and we're eager to get started with the tkd.

Drop by the PAC Red Activity Area next Tuesday the 20th for our usual start-of-term demo. All new students are invited to drop by and take a look to see a bit of what taekwondo is all about, and returning students are welcome too! For anybody who's coming back from a previous term and would like to take part in the demo, drop any of the instructors a line over FaceBook (check out our page "UW Taekwondo Club"...join today!) or just show up ready to go.

We'll have the doors open at 7:30pm for people who want to come a bit early and ask any questions about the club. The action will get started at 8pm and then afterwards we'll have a short introductory class, so bring some workout clothes!

Looking forward to another great term ahead!

Schedule and location changes

From June 9 (Thursday) to June 26 (Sunday) we will not have access to the PAC Red Activity area because of convocation.

Thursday classes will be held at the Waterloo club at 420 Weber St N (entrance is at the left side of building [side farthest from King St.). A map of the location is here: http://kicks4fun.ca/fac_waterloo.html . Thursday classes are from 8:30pm - 9:30pm. This is a sparring class so if you have equipment make sure to bring it with you; however, equipment is not mandatory.

Tuesday classes will be held in the PAC studio on the main floor. The studio is located on the blue side of PAC. Class will be from 8:00pm-9:00pm

Sunday classes will be held in the CIF studio (north side of Columbia St.) from 3:30pm-4:30pm.

Spring 2011 Start

As some of you will have seen on our Facebook page (check it out and join! It's "UW Taekwondo Club"), this Tuesday the 17th will be our first class and demo to kick-off the term. It will be held in the PAC Red Activity Area at 8pm, but we will open the doors at 7:30 for people to come in, ask any questions, and get settled. The demo will be about half an hour long, and afterwards we will have a short try-it class (so remember to bring some comfortable clothes to work out in!).

All new students are welcome, and returning members are encouraged to come by and participate in the demo.

Starting Thursday, classes will begin at their regular times. Just as a reminder, on Tuesdays and Thursdays they are 7:30-8:30pm for beginners and 8:30-9:30pm for yellow belts and above. On Sundays classes are 1:30-2:30pm for beginners and 2:30-3:30pm for advanced students.

**Please note: because of convocation, holidays, and other events going on, there will be many times this term where we'll have to have classes elsewhere. This upcoming Sunday (the 22nd) is the first day we don't have the PAC so check back here or on our Facebook page later for more updates.

See you Tuesday!

End of Term Dinner

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the fantastic term! To celebrate we'll be going to McGinnis Front Row in the UW Plaza at 8:00pm Tuesday April 5, 2011. Reservations are under UW Taekwondo Club. Hope to see lots of you there!

Cancellation and Testing

Unfortunately it turns out we don't have the Studio on Sunday, so class has to be cancelled. Tuesday and Thursday we will have testing, so if you're supposed to be testing (or aren't sure) come ready and with fees.

Hmm, we should probably also do some kind of end of term social thing ... Thursday after class and testing? We'll talk about it. If you have ideas post on Facebook.

NOTE: Club Re-locations for March 22nd, 24th, and 27th

Just a reminder that for the next three classes we will not be at the Red Activity Area. The re-scheduling goes as follows:

Tuesday March 22nd
We will be in the CIF Studio. Please note the beginner class will start at 7pm and the advanced class will start at 8pm.

Thursday March 24th
Come join us at our off-campus location at 420 Weber St North! ( http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&source=hp&q=420+Weber+St.+North+waterlo... ) The club is just off of the King-Weber intersection. There will only be one class at 8:30pm, open to all levels.

Sunday March 27th
This day we will be back in the PAC, but in the Studio on the second floor. There is a time change once again with the beginner class starting at 3pm and the advanced class starting at 5pm.

After this, we'll be back in our usual place!

Try a Class at Our Off-campus Club Today!

Everybody from the UW Taekwondo Club is welcome to drop by our off-campus location here in Waterloo tonight. The class goes from 8pm to 9pm, and the club is at 420 Weber St. North, just near the King and Weber intersection.
(Map here: http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&source=hp&q=420+Weber+St.+North+waterlo... )

It has lots of space, more things to kick, and, best of all, it has great mats! Drop by tonight and see what it's like. Hope to see you there!

P.S. the entrance is around the building, to the side NOT facing the gas station.
